Florida homeowners who own a single-family, owner-occupied residential property home, valued up to $700,000 in Florida are eligible to apply for a free home wind mitigation inspection. This service, provided by MSFH, offers a detailed evaluation of your home’s preparedness against hurricanes. The resulting report identifies your home’s current strengths and weaknesses when facing hurricanes, along with recommendations for enhancing its resilience.
Step 2: Plan for Home-Strengthening Improvements
Following the inspection, qualified homeowners can access up to $10,000 in matching grant funds for executing the recommended strengthening upgrades. These upgrades not only secure your home but also potentially qualify you for significant annual reductions in insurance premiums. Program Updates and Availability

The MSFH program is constantly evolving. Currently, applicants with a ‘Submitted’ status will remain in the queue for additional funding. Those who have completed inspections, but not yet submitted grant applications, will need to wait for the portal to reopen. This is expected to happen July 1st. Historically, the Florida legislature has allocated funds to the MSFH program annually. We expect new funding soon!

Program Limitations & Additional Information
Specific exclusions apply to the program. Homes valued over $700,000 are not eligible for the program. Another example is townhomes are not eligible for roof improvements.
Additionally, the My Safe Florida Home program has introduced new prioritization requirements. Applications will be accepted and prioritized in 15-day increments. Once all funds have been distributed, no new applications will be received until additional funding is approved. These prioritization requirements will be in the following order: Low-income homeowners age 60+, Low-income homeowners of any age, Moderate-income homeowners age 60+, Moderate-income homeowners of any age, and all other eligible Florida homeowners.
